Mid-Saturday Update

3 walks down, 3 to go. Kathleen ate some toast this morning and a few grapes for lunch. Food is still not overly appealing, but fortunately no signs of nausea. I have tried to get her to make a few phone calls, but she is still not up to the task, so I continue to read her blog messages (hint: send a note if you are reading this -- at the bottom of this message, click on the word "comment", scroll to the bottom and you will see a box where you can type a message).

Not much more to report, so here's a clean hospital joke. . .
Two doctors and an HMO exec end up at the pearly gates. The first says to St. Peter, "I was a pediatric spine surgeon and I spent my life helping kids overcome their deformities." St. Peter says, "You may enter." The next doctor says, "I was an emergency room doctor and I saved hundreds of people's lives." St. Peter says, "You may enter." The HMO exec says, "I ran the country's largest HMO and helped millinos of people get cost-effective health care." St. Peter says, "You may enter. . . but you can only stay 3 days, after that you will be released." ;-)

  2. Very funny Uncle Mark! Just checkin on ya Sis In Law. Did you know you have a wonderful husband who can stay so positive and witty despite the lack of sleep and stress? Oh right, you knew that already. Kudos to you both!!! Tell Kathleen Bobby had toast and grapes too today. We'll be checkin in again in a little while. Thanks for the positive updates, things are sounding real good! Whew! Amy

  4. Kathleen, You had best get better soon so that Mark does not continue with his jokes... We are so relieved to hear that you are doing well (baby steps are good!). You have no idea how many people are asking about you and reading the blogs. You have everyone wishing you well and thinking about you. I know we will be seeing that brilliant smile soon. Take care of each other and stay stong! HUGS to BOTH Greg & Stephanie

  8. Hi Kathleen and Mark,
We are keeping up with the blogs and keeping an eye on things next door! Pretty quiet today. We have thought of you often and are so thankful for your progress. I think Mark missed his calling as a journalist! I hope you are feeling better as each hour passes and will soon be back where you belong!

  9. Kathleen, So glad to hear you are up and around a little bit. Even though you have lead-lined walls, please don't attempt to be SuperWoman! Just take it easy and let your body recover. Thanks to Mark for keeping us updated. Sharon1313

  11. Dear Kathleen and Mark,
Today's the good day when you both get to bust out of the hospital and wave goodbye to Iowa City in your rearview mirror. I know they've been terrific to you, but as Dorothy says, "There's no place like home." So click your ruby slippers together and wish yourself back home!
