Sorry for the delayed post, it has been a busy morning here. I arrived at 7am. Kathleen was sleeping soundly. When she woke up, we had a quick sponge bath, went for a walk, then the whirlwind of doctors, nurses and others started streaming in. Dr. Woodson said Kathleen is making great progress. The facial nerve has taken a rest for a while (could be a month), so the right side of her face isn't working too well and droops a bit, but the swelling is down today and when they inspected the incision site, it looked good. She still has the pressure bandage over the would, but there are no signs of spinal fluid leak, which is a wonderful thing.
Now for the really good news. . . these are pictures of the IV after it was taken out! Yeah!!! She is free and clear of the teather, and walks will be a lot easier from now on. When I asked Kathleen what she wanted to say to all of you, she said, "Tell them you are the best nurse-maid ever." I am convinced she would say that to anyone sitting in this chair, and I can't take any credit because she is the world's best, and easiest patient.We expect to have a day of walks, food, and rest, and are being told that we could get discharged as early as tomorrow if everything continues to go well.

YAY!! What great progress. It's a rainy day in Wheton and all ball games have been called off for the day, even our co-ed league tonight. O well, a day of rest, walks and food sounds pretty good for us today too. So you enjoy your food, rest and walks and we will too! I'll check in later. Love Amy.
ReplyDeleteI am sure that the hospital and nurses will be sad to see such a dream patient and husband leave. So wonderful to hear that you are right on track and will be ale to head home soon. I know you must be missing your sweet girlies as much as they are missing you!! Still a long road ahead but I BELIEVE the worst is behind you and its clear sailing ahead. Love you!!!

ReplyDeleteWhat awesome news. It has been a day for champions! Tyler's team won the state tourney even without Kathleen. It rained out, so by default they won.
I'm so proud of all our neighborhood champs. AS Tyler's coach keeps telling the boys, "ya just gotta battle back!" Keep up the hard work. We're all still cheering you on. (Nationals are next!) You up for it? You've still got a few weeks. : ) We're still praying! Love, Cathy
